Air Travel

From New Zealand

The airlines that provide regular flights between Australia and New Zealand are Air New Zealand, Emirates, QANTAS and Virgin Australia. Flights arrive at either Brisbane (BNE), Melbourne (MEL) or Sydney (SYD) airports and pasengers would then need to transfer to a domestic flight to Canberra (CBR).

QANTAS and Virgin Australia provide services to Canberra daily from most Australian capital cities.

Ground Transport

Coach

Canberra is about 8.5 hours by road from Melbourne and 3.5 hours from Sydney. Two coach companies offer multiple services daily to Canberra.

  • Greyhound Australia offers services departing from Melbourne Southern Cross (Spencer St) train station. They also offer services departing from Sydney Central train station and from Sydney Airport (International Terminal 1 and Domestic Terminal 3).
  • Murrays Coaches offers services departing from Sydney Central train station and from Sydney International Airport (Terminal 1).

    In Canberra all these coach services arrive at and depart from the Jolimont Centre in Canberra City, around 2 km by road from the main comnference venue.

    Rail

    Canberra is about 4.5 hours from Sydney by rail. NSW TrainLink offers direct services daily to Canberra. Trains arrive at the Canberra railway station in the suburb of Kingston, about 9 km by road from the main conference.

    There are no direct rail services between Melbourne and Canberra. Public Transport Victoria describe the various combined rail/coach options. Coach services arrive at and depart from the Jolimont Centre in Canberra City, around 2 km by road from the main comnference venue.
